A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return.
This was my first ever book written by Paula Hawkins and I gotta say that I was very disappointed because I have had heard so much good about this book which this didn’t book didn’t live up to for me.
The plot was very confusing and very boring. There are many POVs in this book which really annoyed me personally and at times I just couldn’t keep up with the plot. There are too many characters and to many switching of POVs was really made me want to DNF this book. The plot was on the edge of having a good mystery in it but every time the plot was starting to get even slightly exciting it was just killed off straight away. Which really made me personally very angry because I really wanted to like this book.
In general the plot in this book was all over the place and the ending really didn’t bring the big revel but rather an DNF from me when I was just 8 pages away from the end.
The writing style was bad but of course there were parts where the writing style was okay but come on I need more than that to like it.
I Give This Book 1 / 5
