In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same
One of the best biographies out there. If you had admired her before reading this book you will admire here even more after reading this book.
The hype about this book is understandable, and it is defiantly worth the cash and time you will use on this book.
If you don’t know much about Michelle Obama, then this book is perfect for you. Even if you are not on the same political side as she and her husband are on. Don’t worry this book isn’t so much about politics as you may think it is. It involves some politics as you can expect from a book written about the first lady. The only thing which is about politics in this book is her experience with the politics.
The writing style in this book feels like not a book but rather as a long, comfortable conversation with Michelle Obama where she is telling you her story. The way she tells her story is just brilliant.
This book doesn’t fail to show that not only is Michelle super smart, charming and a kind human being but it also shows that she has some huge writing and storytelling skills which a lot of authors now on days don’t have.
I appreciate that this book isn’t trying to sell us bull shit, about how clean and not dirty at all the politics is. Michelle Obama is very honest in this book about how it was to be the first lady for 8 years and what she, Barack and their kids went through during this period of time but also before when Barack was running for presidency.
I’m sure if you give this book a chance, it will inspire you at least a little bit. Because it have all things in place of what an inspirational book should have. We cant forget the fact that this book is sort of a powerful, surprising and moving book.
However there were parts in this book which were taking forever to read because they were stretching out more than they needed to. So it would be much better if they were so cut short, because no one wants to read 10 pages about her bus ride to school or something similar to this.
This book shows that Michelle Obama is gifted with her ability to express her own emotions in a writing process. The whole book are written with tremendous insight and sensitivity and from beginning to end it’s artistically rendered with meticulous attention to details.
Michelle Obama really goes into deep with this book. She sort of discuss the thoughts which she had while growing up which was all about “am I good enough?” and so on. In this book also shows that she had you become someone important no matter where you come from, no matter what skin color you have and so on. I feel like this book is something everyone should read.
I give this book 5 / 5
